Christchurch Alpha
The Marlborough Downs Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed manner over 10, thought-provoking weekly sessions
Who is the Alpha course aimed at?
The Alpha course is aimed at anyone who wants to explore the questions of life and discover more about spirituality. You may have never stepped inside a church or you may regularly attend church, you may have just left school or may have been retired for many years. As Rev Andrew Studdert-Kennedy, Rector of St Mary’s Marlborough, said “I would encourage people to go on an Alpha course if they are curious about God, wish to explore more about faith and enjoy discussing such issues with others.”
What is the Marlborough Downs Alpha course?
The Marlborough Downs Alpha course is organised by the churches of the area from Avebury to Chilton Foliat and from Wroughton to Marlborough and is led by Revd Paul Bradish, vicar of the Upper Kennet group of churches and Rev Dr David Maurice from the Marlborough Anglican Team. The course will start in late September and will run weekly until the first week of December.
Tell me more about the course format...
Each session will start with a simple meal followed by a short talk on various aspects of the Christian faith. The first is ‘Is there more to life than this?’ Others include ‘Who is Jesus?’ and ‘Why did Jesus die?’. After the talk, in small groups of between 8 and 12, there is an opportunity to reflect on and discuss any issues raised in a relaxed and informal manner.
If you would like to attend the Alpha Supper either with a view to doing the course yourself or to bring a friend or neighbour along, please book your tickets by calling Mo Hill 01672 514447
