Friends of Kembrey Grass

We are a community group campaigning for the long term protection of public open space at Gorsehill, Swindon as open space, public walks and pleasure ground at all times as set out in the 1937 covenant between Walter James Hobbs and the Mayor and Burgesses of Swindon.  The covenant means this land cannot be built on.

Our aims and objectives contribute to protecting the green corridor running east from Cricklade Road, Gorsehill for the benefit of the community. That this be recorded as part of the Wiltshire 2026 Core Strategy for the land to be secured as an open space for future generations. Our aims and objectives contribute towards the formal adoption of footpaths and urban bridletracks for public use and the removal of fencing and obstacles blocking those routes.

Our aims also include protection of Pickards Small Field allotment site; to have the land brought back into full use to meet local demand for allotments under the Smallholding & Allotments Act.

Our community group includes residents of Gorsehill, Ferndale, Stratton St Margaret, Pinehurst and all other individuals and groups who have enjoyed the benefit of these amenities for ad hoc sport, leisure or other pastimes.
