Highworth & Swindon Walking Club
The Highworth & Swindon Walking Club is a friendly group, whose members enjoy walking in the countryside.
We organise walks every Sunday and Wednesday throughout the year, usually within a 35 mile radius of Swindon. Every second Wednesday there is a short walk of up to 6 miles with the offer of a Pub lunch at the end. Occasionally, on a Sunday, we have a more strenuous walk in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Club also has weekends away each year.
We cater for walkers of different abilities with the walks ranging from 6 to 12 miles in length and are graded from very easy to very hard. Please bring a packed lunch and enough water. Good footwear and suitable clothing for the weather conditions are also strongly recommended. Sorry, no dogs.
Members meet in Swindon and Highworth as indicated on the programme and to minimise the use of cars, we share cars wherever possible.
We have a programme of walks, which is published with a Newsletter every 4 months. Prospective members are welcome to participate in a walk for a maximum of 3 times before being asked to join the Club; however non-members are not covered by our Public Liability Insurance.
The Club is an independent organisation affiliated to the Ramblers Association.
Membership: £5.00 per person (from Jan 2011).
