Swindon MIND
Our organisation was affiliated to National Mind in 1989. Our aims are to improve services and support for people with mental health problems and also to promote good mental health in the community.
Our present activities include:
* Information Advocacy Service
Our Information/Advocacy worker splits her time between organising and providing information for anyone with an enquiry about a mental health issue and also acting as an advocate for people within the mental health system
* What's on Programme
We organise a monthly programme of social and educational opportunities, based on service users choices, in collaboration with workers from other organisations. Volunteers also support the activities.
* Social Inclusion
We have 3 Social Inclusion workers who explore opportunities for people to participate in activities alongside other members of the public. They also empower people to carry out assessments of their strengths so that they can develop their own recovery plans. This work is closely linked to the “What’s On” Programme.
* Joint- Planning
Our manager works in partnership with others to develop mental health services in line with Government guidelines and Good Practice.
* Campaigning
We campaign on issues of concern and work with others to find solutions.
