The New Swindon Sanctuary Sexual Assault Referral Centre
Providing a high quality, comprehensive and co-ordinated service, counselling service and medical services to men, women and children who have experienced sexual assault.
Disabled access and bathroom facilities.
Times: 24/7.
Two dedicated medical examination suites with shower facilities including disabled access. There is a lounge/kitchen area where victims and their families can access tea/coffee and watch DVD's whilst waiting and there are four interview rooms (two of which have video recording equipment available for use in partially soundproofed rooms). The Counsellors for the New Sanctuary service have a dedicated room at the centre. Practical and emotional support for victims; Post coital contraception and pregnancy testing; Counselling support for victims and their supporters; Onwards referralĀ to other agencies if necessary i.e. sexual health department. Victims are offered STI check-ups and onward referral to the GUM clinic if necessary. We also store Levonnelle ll (morning after pill).
People with no reliable means of transport who wish to go to the Sanctuary can contract V Cars taxi firm who will collect the victim and deliver them safely to the sanctuary and take them back after treatment with no charge.
