The Swindon and District Talking Newspaper Association (STAN)
To provide a local news and affairs service especially for the visually impaired, partially sighted and anyone with other disabilities.
We produce a weekly 90 minute cassette - with news taken from the Swindon Evening Advertiser on one side, and features _ local sport, music 'What's on', listeners letters, etc. We also supply optional informational tapes such as Swindon Borough Council and Age Concern to help keep you in touch locally. We are delighted to produce the audio version of this first Access guide for the Swindon ares.
Fully equipped recording studio plus one 'mini' recording studio.
Talking Newspaper tapes are sent out each Thursday by post and usually arrive with the listener on Friday morning. Listeners are asked to put tapes back in the post on Monday morning to arrive back with us on Tuesday for wiping clean and re-recording the following day. There is no charge to the listener for postage.
