Toothill Primary School

Toothill Primary School was the first primary school to open in West Swindon, in 1978, catering for children aged 5 to 11.  In 1997 a purpose built nursery unit was added so that the school now caters for children aged 4 to 11. It now provides education facilities for children predominantly from the local Toothill area.

In 2008 the school underwent an exciting new rebuild. The One Form Entry School complete with Extended Facilities opened its doors in September 2008.  The School offers excellent amenities for local children and the community.

The modern, light and airy building boasts well equipped classrooms, a secure environment, including a fully enclosed play area for our Foundation Stage children. Resources include state of the art computer facilities, well stocked library, a dedicated domestic science suite for cookery and a spacious hall with staging.

We have extensive grounds which are in the process of being re-landscaped following the demolition of the old school building.  The site has a playing field, a wooded area, a conservation area, and a large playground including activity trail.

In addition, the school houses 3 community rooms which are available to local community groups.

The school has a good Extended Schools programme and is working towards the provision of “Wrap Around Care”.   The ‘Toots’ Afterschool Club was launched in November 2008.

Toothill School is a feeder school to Greendown Community School and Ridgeway School and maintains close links with them all to ease the transition of its Year 6 pupils from Primary into Secondary school.
