Wiltshire Historical Military Society
Aims and Objectives
1) To commemorate historic battlefields from the Saxon period and up to and including the English Civil War, the Monmouth Uprising and the Machine Riots.
2) To commemorate and preserve examples of Army and RAF camps, barracks and airfields (which have been de-commissioned either recently or some years ago).
3)To aid other voluntary groups in the preservation and renovation of military and aviation memorials throughout the county.
4)To be an enabler, to assist Local, Town and Parish councils in setting up memorials within their own community to commemorate individual or sites with an historical military connection.
5) To set up a database of all military sites and memorials within the county in co-operation with the County Museum and Archives.
6) To educate the community in the importance of the military history of Wiltshire and its relevance to-day.
