Wroughton Parish Council

Wroughton Parish Council is a first tier of local government with 15 Councillors elected from within the Parish. It has the power to raise money through the precept. The Parish Council manages 6 play areas, the larger open spaces and the allotments in the Parish. The Council provides two pavilions and sports pitches, which are used by  male and female adult football teams and eleven youth football teams, plus cricket in the summer. It has also provided a facility for a youth club, which is open two evening per week. It also contributes towards the cost of the Ellendune Community Centre and the Parish Churchyard and allows the Wroughton Carnival to be held on it’s open space. The Parish Council arranges the annual Wroughton Service of Remembrance and maintains the War Memorial.

The Parish Council meetings are open to the public, who have an allotted time at the start of a meeting to speak. It is a statutory consultee for planning applications as well as policies being developed by the Borough Council. Plans for local developments can be viewed at the Council offices and there is information available on bus and train timetables and local walks.
